| Will | The Will of Richard Penfold
In the Name of God Amen the 22nd day of March in the year of our Lord 1800 I Richard Penfold of the parish of Goudhurst in the County of Kent Farmer being of sound mind and memory Do make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form as follows. Wiz First I Give and recommend my soul to the hand of Almighty God who gave it. And my Body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named And as touching my Worldly Goods Chattels Money or Effects which it has pleased God to bless me with at the time of my decease I do hereby Will and bequeath it in manner and form as here followeth. First my Will and desire is that as soon as may be convenient after my death that my Executors do have All my Effects Goods and Chattels - Husbandry any Tackle Household furniture and money in the house belonging to me all valued and put together And after paying my just Debts and my Funeral Expenses - the rest and residue of my Estate. My Will and desire is that my well-beloved Wife may have the Interest of the same for her Maintenance and Support for and during her life to subsist upon and to her own use. But the rest and principal of what I die possessed of my Will and desire is I that after Mary my wife's death / it may be equally divided share and share alike among my Six children or their surviving issue, their parents Part/Viz/ To Elizabeth the widow of Thomas Chittenden of Staplehurst Jno Penfold of Hawkhurst Richard Penfold of Lydd Willm Penfold of Goudhurst Edward Penfold of Goudhurst and Mary the wife of John Westmore of Goudhurst, all in the County of Kent Further my Will and Desire is that my aforesaid Son Richard Penfold of Lydd in Kent do pay my said wife Mary for his Son John's board out of his part or share of what I leave him until his time of Apprenticeship with Mr James Morgan shall be fully compleat and ended And my desire is my Executors will do their best endeavour to see this performed truly between him and mother And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Mary Penfold and my Eldest Son John Penfold to be my joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal the day and year above written - Richard Penfold X his mark Signed sealed published and pronounced by the aforesaid Richard Penfold as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our Names hereto Thomas Gurton James Stoneham.. The before Registered Will of Richard Penfold deceased was proved the twenty ninth day of June 1810 before the Reverend John Barwick Clerk Surogate to the Right Honourable Sir William Scott Knight Doctor of Law Vicar General to his Grace Charles by Divine Providence Lord Archbishop of Canterbury Primate of all England and Metropolitan by the Oath of John Penfold the surviving Executor named in the said Will He being first sworn duly to perform the same.
