Geoffrey O. Penfold (July 8, 1906 - Jan. (5?) - 1962)

After his secondary education he went to work for the Northern Electric Co.in order to provide for the family (1922 - 1931).

When the children were young the father died and the mother earned the living for the family.

In Sept. 1931 Geoffrey joined the Jesuit Seminary in Guelph, Ontario as a Novice , but in 1932 decided to enroll in the St. Augustine Seminary in Toronto. On May 26, 1938 he was ordained in St.James Cathedral in

Montreal and then came to the Victoria Diocese.

He served in several parishes and in 1943 became Rector of St.Andrew's Cathedral in Victoria. The title of Monsignorwas bestowed on him in 1960. While walking downtown with the new Bishop Remi De Roo he collapsed and died. At that time he was Chancellor of the Diocese. It is assumed that he is buried in the Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria.
