Susannah STURMEY 1,4 [6002] was born in 1822 (approx.) in Herewebury, Shropshire. 4 She was christened on 8 September 1822 in Shifnal, Shropshire C048861. 5 In 1861 she was resident. 4 In 1861 she was a Charwoman. 4 In 1881 she was resident. 6 In 1891 she was resident. 7 She died.

In 1881 Susannah Penfold is living with Sophia and William. She is also living with two grandchildren, Susan Ann age 8 (born about 1873) and William Henry age 6 (born about 1875). I believe William Henry is Sophia's illegiamate son as in 1891 she is living with William Penfold age 16 and her husband James Scott. They also have a visitor William Carry, unmarried, age 29, born Chortley (?), Surrey.
Susannah is also a widow.
In 1891 there is no trace of Susan Ann Penfold (at least she is not living in Halliford Road like William and the now married Sophia). But, she would have been 18 so she may have married or have been working away from home.
Interestingly in 1891 the Briley family with whom Susannah and family were lodgers in 1871 are living in No 3 Halliford Road!

Also living with Sophia in 1901 is a grand-daughter aged 5 (born abt. 1896), called Alice Butler. I'm not sure whose daughter she could be, as Eliza and Susannah are both a bit too young, and besides they are living with Sophia in 1901 and they still have the surname Scott, and are single.
Furthermore, the chance of their being another daughter that I have missed is unlikely. Even if Sophia and James got together after April 1881 there is no mention of another daughter in 1891.

Peter And Paul In The Parish Of Upper Teddington, Middlesex. 3 On the BMD there is a marriage between a Maria Lewington and a William Penfold, in the right area, for June 1895. This would make Maria Lewington 27 yrs old at the age of marriage, and William Penfold 39. Were they married before? Are the children William's and Maria's or are they just William's. Iris has no recollection of them.

Henrietta born at 29 Springfield Road, Teddington the families place of residence in 1901 too. In 1901 it states him as a Road Labourer.

Maria LEWINGTON 1,12 [5991] was christened on 8 September 1867 in Sunbury On Thames, London, England. 13 She was born in September 1868 (approx.) in Sunbury. 14 In 1871 she was resident. 15 She was educated at At age 13 she was a scholar according to 1881 Census in 1881. 6 In 1881 she was resident. 6 In 1895 she was resident. 3 She died.
Found on Henrietta's birth certificate and in the 1901 Census for Springfield Rd. She is not marked as being blind in this Census. Iris used to visit her when she was about 13 or 14, on Sunday mornings. Maria would have been about 76 and it would of been leading up to WW2. Nan believes she died in her 70's.

Iris said she knows that her mother had a brother who was a sailor. As Iris only knew of Bob, was this the sailor?

Iris had an 'Aunt' Daisy, but Henrietta always used to say that it wasn't really Iris' aunt, but her own. However, there is a Daisy on the census as daughter of Maria and William. According to Iris, Daisy had a son who lived in Kingston. They had a fish and chip shop.
14. Henrietta Olive PENFOLD 1 [5993], daughter of William PENFOLD [5994] and Maria LEWINGTON [5991], was born in 1903 in Teddington. She married Edward LOVEGROVE [5992] . She died in 1995. 17
Day of death may not be accurate (although month and year are). Cremated in Ruislip, Middlesex.
Born at 29 Springfield Road, Teddington.
Did factory work during WW2. She also worked in service., in hospitals and sent money back to her family.

Edward LOVEGROVE 1 [5992] was born in 1903 in Brentford, Middlesex. 19 His Military was 'Service in the Second World War in the 8th Army in North Africa and Italy' in 1939 (approx.). 17 He died in 1995. 17
I know he served in the war as George has some medals of his. He was involved in the tanks in North Africa and Italy during the WW2 in the 8th Army. Spent 4yrs away. Received the African Star medal? and other campaign medals.
