First Generation

1871 and 1881 records the Penfold family living at 24-25 High Street,St Mary's, Whitechapel, which was the registered business address of William Coates & Co Wine and Spirit merchants.

At some stage before his death in 1916 Charles became a merchant seaman, as stated on his daughter Eleanor's marriage cert of 1923.
Eleanor Adelaide BANNISTER 1 [6650] was born on 18 May 1879 in Grays, Essex. 8,25 Father, John Bannister, a gardener and mother, Sarah Daniells. Eleanor was confirmed on 24 May 1893. 8 Confirmed at age 14. Eleanor died on 24 January 1969 in Manor Park London. 8
